I went to Gothicumbia on New Year’s Eve and fell in love with the Latin Goth scene.
It's like I found my way back to my long lost home, since I was a kid I always listened to Rock en Español and classic rock. Ever since I moved to the U.S. particularly L.A. there was only one station (Superestrella 107.1) that played Rock en Español and other hispanic music, I lost track when it was taken down and throughout high school I only listened to whatever it was mainstream thinking that what I used to listen was long gone.
Until my friend's girlfriend recommended me some shows that played that music.
Then I went to Gothicumbia on New Year's Eve and instantly felt like I came back home, they literally played all the songs I liked and had a blast, first time I've ever been in a moshpit and a happy accident occurred when I bumped into a girl and danced with her for a minute. People were chill, friendly, and very lively.
I just loved it.

For Latin goths, do you consider Caifanes’ album Volume 1 to be gothic? Caifanes in general, since many of their lyrics border on gothic for me.
Songs like "Tell Me Your Life" and "That's Why" have all the hallmarks of post-punk, "Kill Me Because I'm Dying" is the ultimate expression of love (not necessarily romantic) after death, "Until You Stop Breathing" speaks of desire in such an exalted way, "Wind" with its line "Bewitch me, let's become eternal," and other songs like "Until I Die," "Shadows in Lost Times," etc., contain certain lyrics that I believe fit perfectly within the gothic genre.

Goth music from Latin America
One thing I generally notice is that people tend to over look the hidden gems of goth music coming from Latin America. I found out about this band from Chile not that long ago. They are definitely worth a try. Here is the link: Vacvvm (the band name)
If you have any other cool underground band suggestions from Latin America, please share them! I am always open to new music.
